I am 31 years old and currently live in Northern Virginia. My life with Heep
began eleven years ago in the summer of 1988, when I discovered an LP of Demons
and Wizards at a local used record store. I bought it because I liked the
cover and the title. When I brought it home to my phonograph and played it,
naturally the first song I heard was "The Wizard" and that remains my
favorite Heep song to this day. This great album endeared itself to me so
much that I soon began actively seeking out other Heep albums in a quest to
garner everything the band had ever recorded (little did I know, at the
time, what a momentous task this would prove to be). As my album collection
grew, I was exposed to more and more of this group's greatness and the songs
seemed to strike a responsive chord in me in a way few other bands had, and
Heep began to challenge and eventually supplant the Rolling Stones as my
all-time favorite band.
Some of my other interests include watching sports (football and baseball fanatic). I am also an avid reader, owning about a couple of thousand books, about three-quarters of which are science-fiction fantasy.
Some of my other favorite bands besides Heep include the aforementioned Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Grand Funk Railroad, Bad Company/Free, Humble Pie, Mountain, Asia, ELO, Kansas, Sweet, Neil Young, Warren Zevon, and many, many others. The best CD I purchased recently was Golden Miles, an excellent anthology of Australian progressive rock from the seventies (one of the featured bands in the collection, Khavas Jute, features future Heep-member Bob Daisley.)
Favorite Heep songs besides "The Wizard": Lady in Black, July Morning, What's Within My Heart, Circle of Hands, Easy Livin' (as a matter of fact just about every song on D&W), Tales, Rain, Stealin', If I Had the Time, Wonderworld, The Shadows & The Wind, The Easy Road, A Year or a Day, Misty Eyes, Wise Man, A Far Better Way, Firefly, Choices, Fallen Angel, Put Your Lovin' on Me, Won't Have To Wait Too Long, Hot Night in a Cold Town, Prisoner, When the War is Over, Mistress of All Time, Love in Silence, and many, many others.
