Gday, my name is Clint Bearham, I turned 24 on the 7th of October 01, and I've been on the Heep mailing list for a couple of years. I grew up in a town of two thousand people called Orbost, in Victoria Australia. For such a small town, there are quite a few Heep fans there, including the biggest, my Dad Kevin. He is 47 and first got into Heep when he saw Easy Living on t.v. in 72. He immediately bought Demons and Wizards, loved it, then bought the previous 3 albums, and continued to buy every album until Different World, after which we both presumed the band had split up, not hearing anything about them until I got the Internet in 98 and discovered Jay Pearson's heep website, and found that there were 2 new studio albums out,and in turn finding the official website and mailing list.
One of my earliest memories is of my Dad bringing home Abominog, which I loved immediately. I got heavily into Heep around the age of 5 and 6, and played my dad's records constantly. The first album I ever bought was Raging Silence in 89, and it's still one of my fave albums by any band. I was blown away by their amazing version of When the War is Over, which is a radio staple in Australia with both Cold Chisel and Little River Band having big hits with it. Although I'm biased, I really think heeps version is by far the best of the three.
In 85, Heep toured Australia for the last time as of this moment, and I begged my dad to go with him and my stepmum after seeing Mick Box and Pete Goalby on the tv show "Sounds" promoting the Melbourne concert. I was too young for the pub venue, so I'm just hoping Heep come back one day.
I currently live in Melbourne, Australia's second largest city, with about 3 million people. My favourite bands are Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Uriah Heep, Iron Maiden, Alice in Chains, Judas Priest, AC DC, Rainbow, Bad Company, BTO, Badlands, Budgie, COC, Danzig, Dio, Faith No More, Foghat, Guns n Roses, Def Leppard, Megadeth, Metallica, Motley Crue, Heart, Rush, Silverchair, Slayer, Led Zeppelin, Skid Row, Rush, Van Halen, to name just a few. My first concert was Whitesnake in 94, and I've since seen Ozzy in 98, his first Aussie tour since 74, and Deep Purple in March this year. I have about 400 cds, and once I like a band or album, I never get sick of it like a lot of people seem to do with music.
My alltime fave Heep albums are Look at Yourself, Abominog and Raging Silence, tho I love every album (with the exception of Conquest, which is ok). My favourite songs include Gypsy, A year or a day, Too scared to run, and Red Lights. Ohh and a hundred others!
My hobbies include fishing, camping, hunting, tennis, golf, and of course listening to music LOUD! Well, thats me in a nutshell. My final thought is this: I have had a huge struggle the last 6 years, and Uriah Heep's music has been such a big help in getting me through, so thank you Mick and co.
