Hi,I'm Mike Fedysky and I'm 41yrs. old. I live in Dickson City , Pa (just outside of Scranton ) with my wife, Gail, our 14yr. old daughter Kristine & a 7yr. old sheltie named Jake. Gail and I have been married for 17yrs. I've been working for Adelphia Cable Communications for the past 16yrs. as a system/fiber optics technician. My wife works for a Rheumatologist and is also a Uriah Heep fan mainly due to my influence and constant playing of most of their CD's. My goal is to have them all eventually! I've been playing Bass guitar since I was 13.I started playing High School dances with 3 of my friends and I've been in and out of bands since.

I was first introduced to Uriah Heep back in 1970 at a local place called Nay Aug Park in Scranton, which was like a mini NY Central Park. Back then they would have local bands every Sunday play for free ( local exposure ) and one night this band played ( they were well known in the area ). Well, being a 14yr.old musician I was all eyes and ears. They played "Gypsy" ,"Bird of Prey " and "The Wizard" and always announced that they were songs by Uriah Heep. I was so impressed by the ooooh-aaaaah's and song style I went on my hunt for Heep records! That began the happiest musical years of my life. Then, in 1973 I got to see them in concert. Quite to my surprise! I'll never forget this 'cause I was 17, I had my Dad's car and went to visit my friend and fellow musician Chris (he could play a mean Hammond ) who lived in Scranton. He knew I loved Heep and he said :"Mike, Heep is playing today down at Allentown Fairgrounds let's go down". Well that's when the little devil showed up on my shoulder saying go for it even though Dad said not to go far. Allentown was about a 1 1/2 hour ride. I listened to that devil and am I glad I did. We had no tickets and a bunch of us jumped the wall to get in ( they played in the center of a race track). I got right to the stage! Earth, Wind, and Fire was the warm up band and back then they weren't very well known. We were booing them so we could get Heep to come out. I remember Byron smoking a pipe(with some wacky-tobbacky) that a fan gave him during the concert, and I remember him with a bottle of wine.I could almost touch his boots! Everytime there was a lull between songs people would yell," Gypsy!!" They were promoting their "Sweet Freedom" album so Byron announced that they were going to do some new tunes.I remember "Stealin' " mainly 'cause it started with Thain on the bass. After the concert, I searched for weeks for that album and finally got it ! Since then I purchased as many albums as I could find ( which in this area it is still very hard ). I followed them up until 1980 and then wondered what became of them.

This year, when we bought a computer for our daughter for Christmas. I found the Heepsters mailing list at work, when I asked my supervisor how does the internet work. He said " pick a topic". I'm sure you know what I was about to say..............URIAH HEEP! Then I found out my idol, Ken Hensley, had his own web site too! Now, thanks to the mailing list and Web sites I can pick up where 1980 left me. I hope someday to meet Ken Hensley and see Uriah Heep "Live" once more.

A special thanks to all of you heepsters for introducing me back to Uriah Heep.

I've "Been away too long"
Michael Fedysky
